The NMCA LSX Series racing season has started. The first event was held at Bradenton Motorsport Park in Bradenton Florida. We were there racing our 1998 Corvette Pace car. We made it to the finals. There were 26 vehicles in the field. In the finals we had to run someone we know and race with. The final had Derek Putnam and Rob Farley. Derek was had his Camaro setup to run the 13.00 Index. Rob Farley was running the 11.50 Index. Both drivers were very late on the tree, there worse reaction times of the weekend. The race was a skill of top end racing. Rob was able to cross the finish line second allowing Derek to cross first with a 12.98 to Robs 11.49. This was a great way to start the 2011 season.
The NMCA LSX Series Event #2 was held at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce Georgia. This event brought some challenges. First off, Rob left New Jersey suffering from a sinus and chest cold for the ride to this event and throughout the event. While at this event, there was a severe storm Friday night. The storm was so bad that there was a Tornado 15 minutes away from the track. We had heavy rain throughout the night causing some light flooding. With a delay start on Saturday, we did not see any vehicles go down the 1320 till 11am. We were schedule to have our round one eliminations on Saturday. That was rescheduled to Sunday due to the rain delay. Everyone knew Sunday would be a long day since the NMRA was also racing with us in conjunction with the NMCA. The final round was at 10:30pm. By this time Rob was still sick and looking to pass out due to not feeling well. When Rob was not in the staging lanes, he was trying to catch some shut eye in the pits. In the final it was David Saunders and Rob Farley. With it being past Rob's bed time and being so ill. Rob had his worst reaction time of the season. Rob was .130 to Davids .040. On the top end Rob tried to tighten it up. He was able to tighten it up to .009 b lost. Rob went 11.45 to Davids 10.05. Rob has made it to two finals in two events, not a bad way to start off the season. The next event will be in Bowling Green Ky. on Sept. 9,10 & 11.
